Heavenly Father, I’m easily drawn to Bible passages of comfort but passages of warning and pending judgment are equally important. Over 100 times “woe” is referenced in the Bible, seven times in Isaiah 5, and Jesus also used this expression to speak of Your displeasure and grief over sin and eroding moral and spiritual values. Just like loving parents who warn their young children of danger You also warn us of the dangers that come from the enemy of our soul. Satan disguises himself as good and as light, and tragically the world accommodates such deception. But we must heed the repeated cautions in Scripture such as Paul’s warning, “Beware lest anyone cheat you through philosophy and empty deceit, according to the basic principles of the world, and not according to Christ”. Our authority and outlook is not based on the views of this topsy-turvy world but on the words of Christ and the inspired writers of Scripture. Keep me faithful in reading, believing and applying it. In the name of Jesus I pray. Amen.

Heavenly Father, Let us take heed of the Words Jesus gave in the Gospel of John. I am the light of the world: he that followeth Me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life. Father, we offer up to You our lives as living sacrifices. May we be holy and pleasing to You. In whatever form of work we do may we do so with diligence as unto the Lord. We thank You for the variety of giftings and work skills You give us in regard to vocational work and how we are blessed and provided for. We honor you as we have a proper view toward work, as we live in a way that pleases You, and as we shine like lights in this dark world. In Jesus name we pray. Amen. Heavenly Father, I come to You in the precious name of Jesus Christ , my Lord and Savoir and I pray that You would wash me so that I will be whiter than snow. Hide Your face from my sins which are great and dishonor You so much that I can’t bear for You to look upon them. Blot out all my iniquity. Lord, open my lips and my mouth that will enable me to declare Your praise. It isn’t the burnt offering that You delight in but the sacrifice of my broken spirit. It is a broken and contrite heart that You desire in me. As I come to You in humility and brokenness of spirit You restore to me the joy of Your salvation much like the new fallen snow that covers the earth. Thank You for being merciful and forgiving. In the name of Jesus I pray. Amen. Heavenly Father, I love Your Word and there is power in it. As believers, we are put to the test daily regarding our adherence to the Scriptures that teach right from wrong, truth from error. Included are numerous examples of those who represent both camps. We have the golden opportunity to learn lessons from those who were obedient to Your laws and from those who chose to disregard them. Help us to remember that disobedience, disregard, or dilution of the Scriptures will weaken us and eventually harden our hearts to spiritual truths. We choose either to be shaped by the world or by the Word. Our will and desires cannot be shaped by both. We choose this day to be Your obedient servant no matter the consequences, for Your blessing is more to be desired than the applause of the world. Amen. Heavenly Father, we are not be like the world and that goes along with how we treat other people. Father God, You have shown us through the example of Jesus that we are to accept others in the same way that Christ accepted us. Show us ways that we can effectively reach out to others, especially those who feel rejected by family or society. Lord there have been those that have even been rejected from some churches. Help us to show them genuine love and to initiate a friendship in the same way that You reached out to many people groups and befriended them. As we do this in obedience to your command and as we are led by Christ’s example Scripture indicates that we bring praise to You which is our heart’s desire. In Jesus name we ask and give thanks. Amen. Heavenly Father, we often find ourselves dealing with troublesome situations even though for most of us, we rather not, but we know all things work together for our good and for our growth. We don’t want to cling to attitudes which drag us down, but release them to You so that we find freedom from the enemy’s shackles that seek to hold us back. When we quit trying to fix the problem on our own and fully surrender it to You, our outlook brightens, our hope increases, and our faith matures. When troubles come our way help us not to be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present our requests to You so that Your peace which transcends all understanding will guard our hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. It truly is amazing what praising can do! Hallelujah! In Jesus name we pray. Amen. Heavenly Father, I rejoice in You as this new day unfolds. This is the day that You have made and I choose to rejoice and be glad in it. I have assurance today that Your way is perfect and Your timing is flawless. Your ways are higher than any other and Your wisdom far exceeds that of man. You are a shield for all who come to You for refuge.Lord, You arm me with strength and You perfect my ways. You make my feet like the feet of a deer and enable me to stand on the heights. You give me Your shield of victory and sustain me by Your right hand. Therefore I rejoice in You and praise You Jesus, as You show Your unfailing love and kindness to me on this blessed day. Amen. Heavenly Father, You lead us through the valleys and mountain top experiences of everyday life. Your ways are far superior to the path we might choose when guided by our own familiar past, faulty thinking, or poor role models. We’re so grateful for the strength and encouragement we receive from our brothers and sisters who bear our burdens, share in our joys and sorrows, provide godly example and even gently rebuke when correction is needed. When weighing the decision of abandoning our faith or holding faithfully to the faith we profess, we join with Simon Peter who weighed the options and declared, “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life. We believe and know that You are the Holy One of God.” Lord, enable us to deal with the daily stuff of life and to remember that You reward the faithful, though our greater and lasting reward will only be realized on the other side. Help us to learn the grace of being confident on this side as we continue to obey Your commands and await Your blessed reward. In the name of Jesus we pray. Amen. Heavenly Father, we want to live above the fray of this world as a people of righteousness set apart for Your purpose. We forsake the things of this world that bring disgrace to Your holy name and live for the purpose of bringing glory, honor and praise to You, our Father. We pray for our nation, for the turning away from our sins and turning toward the abundant life we find in Christ our Lord. You’ve called us to repentance and to share the good news of salvation to all who are lost. Help us to seek a fresh calling upon our lives to be obedient in this commission from Scripture. In Jesus name we pray, Amen. Heavenly Father, in Your divine destiny although I will go through many hardships as I have seen these past couple weeks, there isn’t one that I face alone. For in my weakness You are made strong, in my folly You are the God of infinite wisdom, and in my insecurities I take hold of the hope You offer to me which is firm and secure. You will not abandon the work of Your hands but fulfill Your purpose for me as You strengthen, sustain, and instruct me during times of testing. I do not want to be casual in my spiritual commitment or lazy in my spiritual duties, but instead I want to imitate those who through faith and patience inherited what has been promised, though they went through many hardships in their sojourn here on earth. Keep me faithful to the end. In Jesus’ mighty name I pray, Amen. |
