Heavenly Father, as I started to prepare Wednesday nights sermon message, You showed me so very clearly in Your Word, scriptures that so many have been taught and believed wrongly, or ignored. Lord God, doctrinal error or disobedience to truths expounded upon in the Word of God will lead us off course. There are many situations that contribute to our getting off the straight and narrow path of righteousness, if we’re not wholly intentional in denying ourselves, taking up our cross daily, and following in the ways of Christ. There are tremendous disappointments we will experience, whether it’s related to our work situation, our family, our church, financial restraints, our relationships with others, health crises or painful loss. Through it all we know that You will lead us daily and give us grace for every trial if we just stay the course. My desire is to hear you say on that day, Well done My good and faithful servant. Many on that day won't hear that. Let those that are on fire for you teach the truth always, never being ashamed of the gospel of Christ. I pray that each one reading this prayer will stand in agreement and live their lives on fire for You. Let us not be cold (those that reject Jesus). Nor be lukewarm. We love You Jesus and we pray this prayer in Your Holy name. Amen

Heavenly Father, You have given us the greatest example of a humble spirit in the person of Your Son, Jesus Christ, who had nowhere to lay His head. He went to where the needs were rather than the place where comforts awaited Him. This is most especially expressed when He gave up His position in heaven where Jesus, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with You something to be grasped, but made Himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant, He was made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, Jesus humbled Himself and became obedient to death – even death on a cross! From the heights of the heavens to the depths of the earth we submit our will and our attitudes to Your conformity through Christ our Lord in whose name we pray. Amen. Heavenly Father, I once was lost, but now I'm found. Lord, when we examine the emotional pain of our lives we often start out with the question of “Why?” But in hindsight we realize that those struggles taught us practical truths that we would not have otherwise learned, and that there truly is purpose in our pain. We often look to Joseph, not because he was a great ruler over Egypt, but because we identify with much of his life’s experiences: betrayal, fear, rejection, his being lied about, separation, unjust treatment, delays, among other struggles. You accomplished Your purpose in His life, not in spite of his trials, but through his pain-filled ordeals. His story has been a source of encouragement to us time and again as he modeled integrity in the midst of the severe struggles and sweeping storms of life. Your eternal purpose is greater than our emotional pain. Remind us that it may not just be for our own instruction but others looking on may learn from our difficult experiences. Thank You Jesus for never leaving me, or forsaking me. In Your name, the most Powerful name of all I pray. Amen. Heavenly Father, as we confess our sins we thank You that You are faithful and just to forgive us and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. Help us to be honest enough to admit our sin, welcome Your cleansing, and invite the Holy Spirit to help us courageously deal with personal consequences from our sinful defiance. You are a gracious Father who does not cast us down in our failures, but You uphold us with Your gracious and loving hand. Thank You Jesus for Your love for us and Your obedience to Your Father, our God for making this all possible. In Your name we pray. Amen. Heavenly Father, stir in my heart the desire to be diligently immersed in the Word of God. The deceiver is diligent in planting seeds of doubt, confusion and clever lies always intending to lead me off course in my spiritual walk. As I persevere in reading and applying truths inscribed throughout Your Word I ward off the incessant pleas from Satan to yield to sin. I desire to be Your faithful follower not just for a season but all the way to eternity. It is my heart’s desire to influence as many as possible to join me in this noble calling. May You find me faithful so that those who watch my life daily may also find me faithful. In Jesus name I pray. Amen. Heavenly Father, any material treasure we receive pales in comparison to the unending gift of Your pure love given to us in the person of Jesus Christ, Your only begotten Son. We are so grateful that He willingly laid down His life that we might inherit eternal life if we only believe. Not only do we receive a future eternal inheritance but we have the power of the Holy Spirit to overcome the daily struggles of this life and any baggage that weighs us down from our past. As I taught on last night, help us not be the lukewarm church. Thank You Jesus for Your teachings and Your warnings. Thank You for Your redeeming grace that was provided to us through the birth of Jesus, our Redeemer in Whose name we pray. Amen. Heavenly Father, as I studied for a sermon message for tonight, I think about Elijah. I think of how he had to trust in You through the hardships he would endure. I also read where he was prepared by You. He did have trust in You and he knew You as the true living God. I also think of those that will be with me when I teach tonight and those reading this prayer and I hope that all, when we pray, “Jesus use me” will be excited about being a builder of Your kingdom right here on earth. But we rarely consider the dangers, discomforts and sacrifices we may be called to endure as we embark upon Your kingdom service. We thank You for those who hear Your call, follow Your leading, and fully surrender everything to obey You as they lead others to Christ and disciple them in the ways of Christianity. Lord, we pray for those on the front lines who experience dangers daily. Increase their faith by bringing to their memories Scriptures that will spur them on even as the enemy tries to halt them. May their example of steadfastness in the midst of injustice and suffering draw others to the living Christ. Deliver them from danger and increase their faith along with that of their family members as You provide for all their needs emotionally, financially, physically and spiritually. Lord we lift up those in Sri Lanka that have lost loved ones. We pray that peace come to their hearts and that the over 500 injured are made whole. In the name of Jesus we pray. Amen. Heavenly Father, we thank You for Jesus who redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming the sin curse for us. The nails bore His body to the tree, and yet our sin condition bore His Spirit to the cross of Calvary. He who knew no sin became sin for us – what an unsurpassed substitutionary death our Savior sacrificed for us so that sin’s curse could be removed and the blessings might follow; the blessings of forgiveness for sins, a home established in heaven, healing of body, mind and spirit, and the freedom from condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. What unspeakable joy fills our hearts today as we rejoice in God’s goodness to us through Christ Jesus, the sacrificed Lamb. In Jesus's name we pray. Amen. Heavenly Father, we consider the greatest proof of genuine love is when one lays down his life for another. We are grateful recipients of Christ’s substitutionary death for us – the atoning sacrifice for our sins. Thank You for proving Your love as You endured the greatest test of love where You presented the greatest gift to humankind – forgiveness for our sins. We’re eternally grateful and, though we have not seen, by faith we do believe. Praise Jesus in Whose name we do pray. Amen. Heavenly Father, it is of first importance to the Apostle Paul to declare that Jesus is risen from the dead and is alive forevermore. So it is also of first importance nearly 2000 years later for those of us who hold dear the sacred Scriptures to joyfully declare the miraculous news that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that He was buried, and that He was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures. Jesus is the living One; He was dead but is alive forevermore! This factual knowledge and spiritual blessing helps to still my fears and reminds me that I serve a living, risen Christ who says to His followers, “Do not be afraid. I am the First and the Last. I am the Living One; I was dead, and behold I am alive forever and ever.” Because Jesus lives we live also! Thank You Jesus and in Your name I pray. Amen. |
