Heavenly Father, You sustain all things by Your powerful Word and through Your sovereign control. The natural order of Your creation is the means by which we live day after day, year after year. Just as there are variables in the seasons there are variables in our lives as we walk this pilgrimage on earth. There are bright, clear days in which we feel on top of the world, and there are dark, cold days when we feel our world will soon come to a halt. But we are encouraged as we look to Your powerful Word that reminds us You are our loving God who sustains us in the variables of our daily circumstances. Because of that we can trust You even in the extremes of life. We thank You in the powerful name of Jesus who is Your exact representation on earth. Amen.

Heavenly Father, when we as believers choose to walk the narrow path of righteousness, we don’t know where it will lead us. But we do know that we never walk alone and that You are there to guide us through every detour we encounter along the way. We might see them as detours that slow us down or require us to rescript the tour we planned for our life’s journey. But You use detours for Your greater purpose to strengthen our faith, to bring us to our knees in prayer, and to help us empathize with others who are hurting. It’s one thing to theoretically tell others that we trust You no matter what, but it is far more effective when we can experientially tell others our sufficiency is in Christ. We pray for those who are beginning a new journey, one they did not map out for themselves, that they will find that You are all-sufficient to meet their every need and that You guide them every step of the way, even their mis-step, for You uphold us with Your righteous right hand. Thank You that You replace worry and fear with trust and assurance. Amen. Heavenly Father, we know that none of us are completely humble, for we are clothed in these mortal, fallible bodies. But we do know that Jesus is the model of One completely humble in His humanity and divinity. He did not consider equality with You, our Father, something to be grasped but took on His personhood as a man and became obedient to death on the cross. We look to Him as the supreme example of humility and obedience. As we clothe ourselves in Your righteousness we can overcome the pride that is ever before us. We recognize that no good thing can come from us, but all that is good comes from You. Remind us daily that the attitude of gratitude is the antidote for feelings of pride. When we acknowledge that everything we have and all that we are is due to Your merciful blessings we are humbled and grateful to You, the Giver of every good and perfect gift. We praise You Jesus and ask this in Your name. Amen Heavenly Father, in Your hands are the very depths of the earth and the tips of the mountain peaks. The sea is Yours, for You made it and Your hands formed the dry land. It is at Your beckoning that the sea can be turned to dry land or dry land turned to sea. When the enemy comes against us like a flood, Your Spirit will lift up a standard against him. We never want our hearts to harden toward You, like the Egyptians and later the Israelites. Keep us faithful and trusting You and Your providential care, in the good times and in the trying times, in Jesus’ name we pray. Amen. Heavenly Father, You established the very essence of what truth is, by its definition as well as its character quality. Truth is not subject to our moods, circumstances or desires, but it is absolutely established by Your Holy Scriptures. Though deception is a way of life for many people help us to be people of truth. Help us restrain from telling half-truths, twisting facts in our favor, or practicing any form of deception. We desire to be people of truth who are not harsh or proud. We want to be Your representatives, Father, who are humble and obedient as we speak the truth in love. We pray this in the name of Jesus. Amen. Heavenly Father, as this world is changing in such a fast way and we now have a party that plans on stripping away our Christian rights, help us to trust in You and not to lose heart. Help us to be moved by the plight of those who are suffering and even laying down their lives for the sake of Christ. We remember them in our prayers and remember them as warriors of the faith, who for the joy set before them endured the suffering, shame and agony of their tormentors. As they endured the humiliation they also overcame by the blood of the Lamb. Many of them have received the crown of life in heaven that is rewarded to those martyred for their faith. On Coronation Day when we all gather in heaven we look forward to enjoying earnest fellowship with these tried and true saints of our faith who did not give up meeting together to worship You. Keep us faithful when tested by fire, we pray in Jesus’ name. Amen. Heavenly Father, the theme of the great banquet parable calls to mind another parable where You challenged the crowd by saying, “The first shall be last and the last shall be first.” You are the Bread of Heaven that nurtures our spiritual hunger and the Living Water that quenches our eternal thirst! Since Your supply is unending there is still room because You are not willing that any should perish but that all would come to repentance. We especially pray for wayward loved ones today, particularly those who have abandoned their spiritual heritage. Father, lead them back to their spiritual roots where there is always a place at the table. We’re so thankful You’re in the restoration business where hearts are mended and families reunited for Your glory. We thank You Jesus in advance for answered prayer. Amen. Heavenly Father, we’re reminded often in Scripture of the eternal inheritance that awaits the faithful. We anticipate that day when we will behold Your beauty and know the fullness of Your love. But it’s on our journey below that we get sidetracked or caught up in matters that distract our attention from that which has lasting eternal value. Help us not to be surprised by the trials that come upon us but enable us to endure because we know that You want us to be faithful, to stand the test, and to keep our eyes fixed on Jesus, the Author and Perfecter of our faith. Amen. Heavenly Father, when I think about the gift You gave me bringing my wife into my life, I realize how grateful we are for the union of a man and a woman in holy marriage. You designed the family unit to work together, play together and support one another as they go through the celebrations and difficulties of life. Help me to be absolutely committed to my marriage partner and to the family You have chosen for me. May I bring vitality and blessing to my family this day. In Your name I pray. Amen. Heavenly Father, we learn from Scripture and we see by Jesus’ example that we are to speak the truth in love, even when it is easier to go along with the crowd or the trends of our society including the post modern thinking that doesn’t rely on facts as much as one’s personal experience, emotions, and ideology. Help us to be courageous believers who live the truth and speak the truth. Give us strength not to apologize or shrink back when we’re attacked as ambassadors of Your unchanging truths as presented in Scripture. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen. |
