Heavenly Father, we are warmed by the words of the prophecy delivered to Zachariah concerning the future birth of his only son, John, "He will be a joy and delight to you, and many will rejoice because of his birth, for he will be great in the sight of the Lord". When we read through the powerful messages John the Baptist preached in the Desert of Judea, "Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is near" we're reminded of the voice of the prophet Isaiah who described him as "A voice of one calling in the desert, Prepare the way for the Lord, make straight paths for Him." Jesus followed in John's footsteps after he was thrown into prison and also preached, "Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is near." And now we who follow Christ share the same message with others, "Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is near." It is the evergreen message for all believers to convey to the unsaved. Help us to lovingly and courageously share this message of salvation that leads to eternal hope. In the name of Jesus we pray. Amen.

Heavenly Father, we're so thankful for Jesus whose infant birth took place in a smelly stable and whose bed was a feeding trough padded with stubbly straw and hay. It was certainly not a welcome setting for the infant born King but we can now see the stable as a composite of this unwelcoming world toward King Jesus. We're so glad that He was willing to come to earth though He would be rejected by the majority. Yet we gratefully number among the many who receive Him as our personal Savior. We thank You that He came to deliver us from our fears and to release us from our sins. Through Your own eternal Spirit rule in our hearts today and raise us to Your glorious throne on Your appointed day. In the name of Jesus we pray. Amen. We accept this marvelous provision though it is incomprehensible by our finite minds to fully grasp. So many refuse Christ's substitutionary death and continue to bemoan their pitiful plight in life, wallowing in their dismal existence. But for those of us who accept Christ's full pardon we enjoy an abundant life, freed from the guilt of our past, and unfearful of our future. Our reservations for the New Jerusalem were secured upon our acceptance of Your free gift of salvation. It's a win/win situation for all who forsake their sinful life and take up the cross of Jesus. We will still be praising You and giving thanks one million years from now, for never has there been such a gift offered by human hand. It's because of Jesus and Your amazing grace that we have access to the throne. In His name we give thanks. Amen. Jesus, You came to earth from heaven to take on flesh and dwell among us as You became the supreme example of God in the flesh, pouring out Your grace upon grace. In Your humanness You were victorious in the raging battle against the spiritual forces of evil when faced with temptations and trials common to all people. We stand in glorious victory as we follow Your example and hold to Your unchanging truths. We come alongside those who are grieving loss and enduring heartache in the midst of this glorious season, for it is in keeping with the season of giving, that we give ourselves in faithful prayer and kind acts toward those experiencing underlying grief. It is in the loving name of Jesus that we pray. In great humility You stripped Yourself of the privilege, position, power and wealth You possessed in heaven. When You walked among Your people You experienced betrayal, misunderstanding, hatred and temptation, yet You were without sin. Even as You made necessary preparations to come to this earth and live among a sinful people, help us to prepare our heart, mind and soul to be among Your holy people that will make a spiritual difference on this side while also growing our affection for our future eternal home. Just as You gave of Yourself so willingly help us to willingly give of ourselves as a fragrant offering to You and as a witness to this sin-darkened world. In Your name, Jesus, we pray. Amen. Mary is a tremendous example of one who was unable to fully comprehend or understand Your plan, but trusted You to take care of those troubling matters that concerned her. Help us to follow in her steps and trust You to work out Your will and plan in our lives even in the mysterious workings of our daily circumstances. Your humble and obedient servant, Mary, fulfilled Your plan for her life and thereby we receive the Christ Child; the Savior, the Messiah, our Lord! For this we are thankful. We pray in His name. Amen. And You move through people such as the shepherds who told all they knew concerning the Christ Child. Two thousand years later we have so much more knowledge and experiences to share with those around us because we have the Word of God that shows Your divine character and tells us of Your great and miraculous deeds. Your choice to enter this earth in such a lowly and timely manner is a story that not only the shepherds were commissioned to go out and tell, but it is the commission of all believers to spread this amazing story. It's not just for the people of Jerusalem or simply a segment of our society or a select period of time in history. Instead Christ's coming affects people of all tongues, tribes, and nations, from the north to the south, from the east to west - all who will call upon the Lord Jesus to be saved. Help us to be bold and unwavering in our mission to reach the lost and dying world in which we live. In Jesus name we thank and ask. Amen. Amen. And in answer to our prayer You cast out our sin and entered in to be born in us, making all things new in our spiritual transformation. Because we come to You through Christ we are saved completely to the uttermost: perfectly, finally, for all time and for all eternity. All we have need of You provide through Christ Jesus our Savior and Lord. And we are forever grateful! We praise You Jesus and in Your name we pray. Amen.
