Heavenly Father, Your love is so great for the human race that You sent Jesus, the Word of God, that those who walked in darkness could see the great light; the light sent from heaven illuminating the righteous path that leads us to our glorious eternal destination in heaven. Our earthly journey is wearying, and sometimes we stumble and fall, but because of Jesus who is the Word of God, we never give up nor are we without hope. We march onward and upward in the name of Jesus until He returns to earth again to gather His beloved. Amen.

Heavenly Father, we thank You for the disciple, John, who devoted His life to Christ’s teaching and zealously passed on eye witness accounts to readers far and wide, accounts that we now read over 1,900 years later so that we might have a sense of who Jesus was in the flesh. Though we have not seen Him we know Him. Help us to faithfully proclaim the Word of life to a needy world around us and forever wonder at the Incarnate Word who became flesh and dwelt among us. In the name of Jesus we pray. Amen. Heavenly Father, we are so thankful for the Good News of salvation, as presented to all who read the Scriptures. In an age where deception, trickery, scheming, and outright lying are prevalent in the government, media, marketplace, workplace, family, and even in churches we are thankful for those, such as Luke, who very thoughtfully and in an investigative manner, compiled an account for those who lived during the time of Christ, but also for all generations that follow. We are among those whom Your servant, the mother of Christ, spoke of in her song of praise, “His mercy goes on from generation to generation, to all who fear Him.” Thank You for extending Your mercy to us in our generation. In the name of Jesus we pray. Amen. Jesus, You left the splendor of heaven to take on flesh and dwell among us as You became God in the flesh. In Your humanness You were victorious in the raging battle against the spiritual forces of evil when faced with temptations and trials common to all people. We stand in glorious victory as we follow Your example and hold to Your unchanging truths. How amazing, that You made Yourself nothing, being made in human likeness so that we could relate to Your human condition and partake of Your divine nature. We love You with all our hearts. Amen. Heavenly Father, how grateful we are that Jesus left the splendor of heaven knowing His destiny was the lowly hill of Golgotha there to lay down His life for me. Not only did He lay down His life for me, but He revealed Your character, Father God, and made it manifest in the flesh so that I could more fully understand and relate to the Triune Godhead. Jesus, the incarnate Word, is eternally God, equally God and essentially God made known to us in the flesh and blood person of Jesus Christ who gave His all for us. We will be grateful for all eternity. Amen. Heavenly Father, there is so much to contemplate and ponder concerning the birth of Your Son, Jesus. Mary is a tremendous example of one who was unable to fully comprehend or understand Your plan, but trusted You to take care of those troubling matters that concerned her. Help us to follow in her steps and trust You to work out Your will and plan in our lives even in the mysterious workings of our daily circumstances. Your humble and obedient servant, Mary, fulfilled Your plan for her life and thereby we receive the Christ Child; the Savior, the Messiah, our Lord! For this we are thankful. In Jesus name. Amen. Heavenly Father, we praise You because there is no dreaded sin in our life that surpasses the all-sufficient grace You freely grant to all who believe. It is through no merit of our own for we are deserving of death and eternal punishment. But through the tremendous sacrificial death of Your Son, Jesus, we are freed from all our guilty stains of sin. No greater love can we know this side of heaven. In the precious name of Your Son, Jesus, we thank You. Amen. Heavenly Father, it has been said that there is no better exercise than to reach down and pick someone up. Of course we do that literally when we reach down to pick up a young child, but You also want us to practice this figuratively in the way we reach out to all people, especially the down and out, those feeling discouraged, abandoned or hopeless, and those dealing with chronic pain, loneliness, poverty or rejection. There are many reasons one might be discouraged but there are also many ways we can pick them up by expressing personal interest in them, lending a hand where needed, writing a note of encouragement, helping contribute toward a financial burden and above all praying that the one who is discouraged will find encouragement in You. We pray this in the name of Jesus who overcame the world. Amen. Heavenly Father, it comes very naturally to encourage and instruct others in Your teachings. But it is far more difficult to bring loving rebuke and correction to one who has chosen to live in disobedience to Your commands. Help me to go forth as one pure in heart, humble in spirit, and earnest in prayer when I am commissioned to be Your messenger of life-giving rebuke. It wasn’t Nathan who went after David, but it was You who sent Nathan, which served as the beginning of David’s spiritual restoration. When the messenger is pure in motive and obedient to the Spirit’s prompting, and the message is received in the right spirit, then correction will take place, just as it did with David. Though I cannot be assured of the desired results help me to find blessing in having been obedient to Your Spirit’s leading. When I am the recipient of a rebuke may I respond in humility and receive the correction as though it were delivered personally from You and respond accordingly. In the name of Jesus I pray. Amen. Heavenly Father, I am full of gratitude today as I consider Your abiding presence in my life, day in and day out. When events in my life shake the very foundations of who I am or the path before me is unclear I gain courage and direction when I remember the inspirational words of Moses, “The Lord is the One who will go before you. He will be with you; He will not leave you or forsake you. Do not be afraid or discouraged.” You sustain me in my wilderness journeyings and even if others forsake me, You remain faithful. Remarkable as it seems, even if I am faithless, You will remain faithful, for You cannot deny Yourself. Thank You for being my Supreme Savior and the Sustainer of my soul, my everlasting hope and joy. I praise You Jesus for loving me so much, that You laid down Your life for me. What love! It is in Your name I ask this prayer. Amen. |
