Heavenly Father, we are a blessed people who have so much to be thankful for that we can’t keep it to ourselves. We don’t boast in ourselves for we are but human flesh, but we boast in who You are and all that You provide for us. Father, You are the eternal, sovereign God who sends down the rain and snow, who raises up the trees and flowers, who sets the sun and moon in place and yet You have such tender compassion toward the human race that You gave Your only Son to make atonement for our sin. You are great and greatly to be praised among Your people and throughout the universe You created. We honor You through Christ Jesus our Lord. Amen.

Heavenly Father, once we were slaves to sin, but because of Your all-consuming love for us, we are now children of the Most High. We shed the former way of life when we lived unto ourselves and allowed the malignancy of sin to spread like cancer. Now we walk in newness of life and gratefully bear the name of Christ and identify ourselves as Christians. We are renewed daily by the power of Your Spirit that is within our new nature. Our hearts are now predisposed to loathe sin and love righteousness because we are children of the Heavenly Father. May we bring honor to our identity as a Christian as we represent the name of Christ in our words and actions. We ask these things in His name. Amen. Heavenly Father, I am thankful for the sense of smell. Depending on what I am smelling it can bring about a pleasant response where I linger taking in more and more of the pleasing scent. Today, I pray that the spiritual fruit from my life would emit such an aroma. I want to offer the sweet smelling sacrifice of a life fully surrendered to You. I pray that those whom I see today would find my words and actions to be a very uplifting part of their day. May I bring encouragement through pleasant conversation and by taking a personal interest in others. Keep my mind and words from sinking in the cesspool of lies, jealousy, gossip, immorality and hatred. Instead I want to spread the aroma of the living Christ that others might seek Him and know Him. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen. Heavenly Father, as my brother in Christ Johnny was saying last night, we marvel in the resurrected healing of the dead man, Lazarus. When his sisters and friends had given up hope all along You had a plan to defy death and raise Larazus to newness of life. It’s true in our lives as well, since You have made it possible for us to put to death the old nature and You have raised to life the new person we are as we are born again. Thank You for forgiving us our sins and giving us life eternal through Your death and Your resurrected life. In the name of Jesus we pray. Amen. Heavenly Father, those whom You call You also equip to do that which we cannot do in ourselves. You assured a frightened Moses with these words, “I will be with you” and You assure our spirits with the very same message, “I will be with you” no matter how hard the test and no matter what You ask us to do. When we obey and trust You we’re assured the victory just like Abraham, Moses, Job, Daniel and all the other common, ordinary people of the Bible who became heroes in our eyes. We walk in victory because You are the great I AM and You are with us enabling us to do that which You have called us to do. In the name of Jesus we pray. Amen. Heavenly Father, I must confess that holy boldness does not come easily for me. Though I may hold an unwavering conviction based upon the teachings of Scripture, I find it difficult to articulate my position when faced with opposing views or ungodly lifestyle. It is in this setting that I rely upon Your Holy Spirit to equip me with the words I am to speak and the tone of which I speak them. You’ve instructed the believer to always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks us to give the reason for the hope that we have. We are to do this prayerfully with gentleness, and respect. Keep our motives pure as we unashamedly and boldly declare Your truths to a lost and dying generation. We pray this in the name of Jesus. Amen. Heavenly Father help us to live with a Kingdom of God focus and a realization that truly this life we now live will soon be past, and only what’s done for Christ will ultimately last. Help us to never see the work we do for You or the people we are called to serve as a waste of time. We ask and thank in the name of Jesus. Amen Heavenly Father, we prefer routine days where everything goes as planned and even that which we do not plan falls into place and serves us well. Rarely would we ask You to bring about a situation that would challenge us, test us, and drive us to our knees as we look to You for direction. But You do that anyway, for our good and for our growth, since faith that cannot be tested is faith that cannot be trusted. It’s in the testing of our faith that You also test our integrity and challenge us to live upright and godly lives, even when others are not looking. May we honor You in all that we do and in the way we serve others whom we influence from day to day. In the name of Jesus we give thanks and pray. Amen. Heavenly Father, Your Word is a lamp unto my feet and light unto my path. I pray that the light of Your Word shines forth not only in my path, but spreads out to those nearby. As I meditate, memorize and endear Your Word to my heart I pray that meaningful Scripture will be a natural outflow of who I am becoming through Christ. In honoring Your Word the power of Your Holy Spirit uses Scripture to bring conviction, instruction, and inspiration. Help me to be faithful in reading and engrafting Your Word to my heart so that I consistently and earnestly contend for the faith no matter the difficulty or temptation I face this day, on the day that You have made. In the name of Christ Jesus I pray. Amen. Heavenly Father, we learn in Scripture that we have no need to fear because You have promised never to leave us nor forsake us. You are our refuge and strength and an ever present help in troubling, fearsome situations. You don’t abandon us in our troubles but come alongside us and take hold of us with Your righteous right hand. Because of that, instead of being afraid, we can learn to trust in You, turning our fear into praise toward You, for who You are and how You watch over us even in the night hours. In the name of Jesus I pray. |
