Heavenly Father, we’ve learned this week of Epaphras who understood the gospel of grace and passionately shared it with others and wrestled in prayer for those who were in his charge. What a shining example to those in the church of Colossae, including Archippus whom Paul specifically called out by name to remind him of his duty as a minister of Christ – to be faithful and complete the calling You placed upon his life. It is a reminder for each of us to be faithful, not slothful, double-minded or pulled away by worldly desires, as we carry out the mission of the gospel of Christ. We don’t want to fall away like Demas* who later abandoned his spiritual post, but we want to be faithful till our final days here on earth. We worship You, Jesus and in Your name we pray. Amen.

Heavenly Father, we want to daily dress ourselves in humility, lest we walk in pride rather than servanthood. As God’s chosen people, we want to clothe ourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Help us to bear with those whom we have grievance against. Help us to forgive even as You forgive us. And over all these virtues help us to put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity so that the body of Christ is united and You are well-pleased with us. In Jesus name we pray. Amen. Heavenly Father, we want to stand firm in Your will, maturing in our faith, and we desire full assurance that You will lead us in the paths of righteousness for Your name’s sake. Just like Epaphras who wrestled in prayer for his brothers and sisters in the faith, help us to wrestle in prayer for our loved ones, and our brothers and sisters in the faith who wage war against the enemy. Our intercessory prayers are not waging war against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world. How reassuring that You have the ultimate authority to intervene and give us victory in these ongoing struggles with good and evil. Father, Let us be faithful in prayer for those who have not yet yielded their lives to Christ. Let us also be faithful in praying for our brothers and sisters in the faith. I am grateful for many of our readers that uplift this ministry regularly in prayer. I am also thankful for those that pray for Leanna's and my personal challenges as well. In the name of Jesus we pray. Amen. Heavenly Father, just as Paul is giving thanks to You for the Colossian believers regarding their faithful walk with Jesus and their love for all Your people, we give thanks for our brothers and sisters in our local congregation, our community and throughout the world. We give thanks to You for the gospel that is bearing fruit in their lives and growing throughout the whole world. How good it is to know that there will always be a remnant who do not bow to Baal, but remain faithful, fruitful, and fervent in their walk with You. May I always be counted among them. In Jesus name I pray. Amen. Heavenly Father, we recognize and thank You that little is much when You are in it. Your grace is measured out to us in the gifts You develop in our lives. Sometimes we bemoan the gift (or seeming lack of gifts) we have in comparison with others who are more prominent or admired by others. Help us not to rate the gifts You bestow, for we want to receive from You that which You have for us, for You are the Giver of all good things. Anything we accomplish in this life is a result of Your empowering and enabling us to carry it out, and we do all for Your glory in the name of Jesus. Amen. Heavenly Father, I boldly declare that You are the living God whom I serve. Only a God like You can turn evil into good, exchange sorrow for joy, or offer life beyond the grave. Like Elijah, I want to fearlessly proclaim You to be the Lord and Savior of my life and tell of all Your wondrous deeds. I join with the apostle Paul in asking that whenever I open my mouth, words may be given me so that I will fearlessly make known the mystery of the gospel to those who have not yet heard or comprehended its meaning for their lives. In the name of Jesus I pray. Amen. Heavenly Father, we thank You for the blessing and usefulness of our hands. We’re so accustomed to having them at our disposal we rarely consider how different our lives would be without them. They’re used for nurturing, correcting, guiding, and protecting those entrusted to our care. They’re used for working, cleaning, building, writing, driving, typing, clutching, shaping, mending, drawing, washing, digging, planting, cutting, and on and on the list goes. We use them often to show our love to others by what we might do for them or make for them, or by clasping their hand in loving affection. And the greatest use of our hands is raising them heavenward in honor and praise to the very One who made them. Your lovingkindness is better than life. My lips shall praise You, thus will I bless You, for I lift up my hands unto Your name. Amen. Heavenly Father, there are numerous subject matters that are troubling to the believer and can even cause distress and outrage as darkness continues to spread throughout our land. What a blessing to know that the darkness of sin cannot overcome the light of Truth revealed through Jesus who is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. But we, as believers, must be very careful that our distress and even outrage at times leads us to a faithful witness even as Paul demonstrated in Athens. Help us not to distort, dilute, or digress from Your Biblical instruction. We ask that those walking in darkness will see the light of Christ shining through us. It is in Jesus’ name that we pray. Amen. |
