Heavenly Father, You are the only source of eternal life to whom I cling. I am confident that You will be with me to the end of my life here on this earth. I am grateful for the many people who bring me support, encouragement and companionship along the way. They’re a source of great joy as they enrich my life daily. But as I grow older I’m recognizing that nothing stays the same and much of what I came to rely on is no longer available to me. Losses of very dear people are now but a warm memory. And many things that once captured my attention are but a passing interest as I reflect upon the passing years. I find great comfort as I cling to the words of the 73rd Psalm, “Whom have I in heaven but Thee, and there is none that I desire on earth beside Thee. My flesh and my heart, they may fail but You are the strength of my heart and my portion forever.” Thank You for being my all in all through every season of my life. In the name of Jesus I pray. Amen.

Heavenly Father, help us to labor wholeheartedly according to Your command. We want to bless You with a grateful attitude and bless our workplace in regard to our productivity and loyalty. We thank You for our daily provision and blessing that comes through the work of our hands. We also thank You for our employers who help to meet our monetary needs. We pray for those who are presently seeking employment that You will provide a place of gainful employment. But until that financial door opens we pray that You will provide through unexpected means and the generosity of others. As You bless us through the work of our hands we in turn bless You by faithfully giving back a generous portion to finance Your kingdom through the local church, Christian ministries, and other worthy endeavors and needy individuals. Grant us the desire to live with less so that others can have more. In the name of Jesus we pray. Amen. Heavenly Father as we consider the fertile fields and lush vegetation that are a result of Your faithfully sending moisture to the earth, we’re also reminded of the power of Your Word that does not return void. The Word also accomplishes great things as it breathes life and hope into those who apply its salvation message to their lives. It turns our losses into gains, our weaknesses into strength, our fear into courage and our wanderings into purpose filled direction. Thank You for Your Holy Word that has completely changed my life, thereby inspiring me to influence others for the kingdom. In the precious name of Jesus I pray. Amen. Heavenly Father, it is easy to express love and kindness when we’re responding to one who has expressed these virtues toward us. We’re awfully good at giving back that which we receive. But often the people who need it most are those who express little love and kindness. Their hearts are sometimes consumed with so much self-pity and resentment they have little room left for the works of the Spirit such as love, joy, peace, and kindness. Help us to respond to a brother or sister in need or lay upon our hearts one who has exercised little kindness toward us. Help us to lay down our suffering related to their unkind ways, so that we can take up the love You offer us when we’re most unlovable and extend it to those who seem unloveable to us. We want to offer love and kindness to others as an extension of Your love and kindness toward us, for when we were dead in our trespasses and sins You made us alive in Christ. Help us to be people of grace as You have extended it to us. In the name of Jesus we pray. Amen. Heavenly Father, there is no higher calling in our life’s journey than to be ambassadors for Christ. When we lovingly teach youngsters Bible stories and spiritual truths, whether we provide spiritual guidance to teens during their often tumultuous years, when we lead support groups, or whatever setting in which we seek to spread the gospel message, we long for Your approval and blessing. We’re tempted to listen to popular teachers, authors, and spiritual fads of the day and align our teaching and standards in accordance to their influence, but help us to alway be wary of those who stray from the written Word. Above all and in all, we desire Your approval that comes from our own in depth study of the Scriptures, and that which the Holy Spirit speaks to us about rightly dividing the Word of Truth in balance of the entirety of Scripture. Lord I pray for pastors all over the world, for professors of Christian colleges, seminaries and universities, and for principals and teachers of our Christian schools, that they would resist the temptation to be popular, politically correct, or academically acceptable but rather embrace the desire to be approved by You, our Master Teacher. In the name of Jesus we pray. Amen. Heavenly Father, there are many things that concern us; our family, our spiritual and physical health, our work, our country, our church, the world conditions, and on and on the list goes. As we travel here below we have much to think about, much to decide upon, and questions arise where it can be very difficult to find the right answer. At times it’s hard to do the right thing, being uncertain at times as to what the right thing is to do. We know the best place to search is the Scriptures since that is where we find the greatest counsel, and then we seek in prayer the Wonderful Counselor who knows our needs even before we voice them. Sometimes He shows us directly through the counsel in His word, sometimes He guides us with His small still voice, and other times He leads us through godly counsel when we just can’t seem to get the answer we need or we don’t want to hear the truth such as David experienced regarding his sin with Bathsheba. You sent Nathan the prophet with a somber message that got David’s attention since he had shut out Your Spirit’s prompting and walked in defiance to the laws set forth in Scripture. Thank You, Father, for sending Jesus, our Wonderful Counselor, who loves and cares for us more than any human agent, and will guide us into His paths of righteousness all the days of our life as we cling to Him. In His name we ask and thank. Amen. Heavenly Father, it's a jungle out there. We live in an age similar to Daniel’s where people mock and ridicule the one and only true God of the universe. So many worship music gods, technology gods, beauty gods, media gods, body building gods, intellectual gods, government gods and countless others. They render You powerless, but we who have exchanged a life enslaved to sin for a life that is forgiven and wholly saved know that they have not had a personal encounter with a holy God. Only You can turn beauty into ashes, our weapons into plowshares, our selfishness into selflessness. Only You can take a meaningless life and establish purpose in our hearts. Only You can replace the fear in our hearts with an eternal hope. Because of Your infinite love and care for us I want to honor You in all that I do, for I love You with all my heart. In the name of Yeshua I pray, Amen. Heavenly Father, You are so good and Your Word is good. Through it we’ve learned the importance of Scripture study and memorization because it is our spiritual life line, giving us guidance, encouragement, instruction, correction, and training in righteousness as we journey here below. It enables us to live a godly life while also preparing our hearts for eternity in heaven. Life is far from perfect in this imperfect world and there is much that we cannot fully understand or control. But we know that You are able to keep that which we commit to You until the day of our union with Christ, which supplies peace to our heart and assurance in our spirit. Though symptoms of aging can make one feel useless or insignificant You have work for us to do in every season of our life. The wisdom, experience, and unhurried soul of an aging saint can greatly benefit those whom they influence whether it’s a family member, roommate, health care worker or volunteer. For even when we are old and gray, O God, You do not forsake us, for we are still declaring Your strength to this generation and Your power to all who are to come. In Jesus name we ask and thank. Amen. Heavenly Father, through my walk with You I have found that man is not trustworthy. Family can turn on us and even closet friends, but we we can trust You. Lord, yesterday, today, and forever You are the faithful, changeless One. Your works in the past are testimony to Your majesty, power, and provision for our lives today. Your presence today steadies our walk as You lead us in the paths of righteousness while we forge ahead in 2020. Your future blessings are waiting to be unfolded in our lives as we faithfully yield to You our heart, our soul, and our mind. We look to You for everything we need for life and godliness in this present age as we await Your soon return. Come, Lord Jesus, come! Amen. Jesus, though You would ultimately surrender Your life at Calvary, You willingly took on flesh and lived among a very imperfect human race in a fallen world. In great humility You stripped Yourself of the privilege, position, power and wealth You possessed in heaven. When You walked among Your people You experienced betrayal, misunderstanding, hatred and temptation, yet You were without sin. Even as You made necessary preparations to come to this earth and live among a sinful people, help us to prepare our heart, mind and soul to be among Your holy people that will make a spiritual difference on this side all the while growing our affection for our future eternal home. Just as You gave of Yourself so willingly help us to willingly give of ourselves as a fragrant offering to You and as a witness to this sin-darkened world. In Your name, Jesus, we pray. Amen. |
