Heavenly Father, as pictures have shown, videos continually are uploaded to the internet, there are thousands here in America that are hurting, There are so many hurting people in our world, our community and even in our own family, that it can be very difficult to know just where You want us to help. As we see the need and prayerfully seek Your leading, we want to help bear another’s burden. Not only can we bless another in need but we can find fulfillment in caring for others the way we’d like to be cared for in our hour of need. We pray that You would help us to move forward as we reach out in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Heavenly Father, today a new president will be sworn in as our new president. Along with him, a new vice president and other appointed officials. Lord, Your Word tells us that we should make petitions, prayers, intercessions, and prayers of thanks for all people and also for rulers, and for everyone who has authority over us. Lord I pray that today, all those that are believers in Christ Jesus, regardless if they voted for this party, or not will be in obedience to Your Word. Lord, today I will be around many that did not vote for the same party as I. Father, I ask, please help me to be like a refreshing cup of cold water on a hot summer’s day to the ones I will be with. May I contribute encouragement, comfort, wisdom, accountability, and loyalty to those people. Help me to reserve judgment and faithfully pray for my friends as we walk together heart to heart and hand in hand. I ask this in the precious name of Jesus. Amen. Heavenly Father, I lift up our incoming president, his administration and this nation up to You. So many want to attack Threats have been made and when we are angry You tell us to stay above the fray and sin not. So much hate and evil has been demonstrated and planned since our election. There are times when it is appropriate to be angry such as when we see a person harming another individual; when we have been lied to, when we have been unfairly accused or when we see the rotting decay around us due to the forces of evil. These circumstances along with many others stir up strong emotions with us and often require a response to the matter. Keep us prayerful as we are quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry. May we respond as Jesus did to His many accusers, though innocent, He spoke not a word in His defense. And may we be careful not to keep a scoreboard of others offenses. We pray this in the mighty name of Jesus who forgives us and does not count our sins against us, but rather took them upon Himself. Amen. Heavenly Father, as You created order in the universe You also created order and harmony in my life. Sometimes and especially with all that's going on in this country and the world, it seems as though chaos triumphs over order, but then I take some quiet time with You in Your Word and find that You still my heart and calm my troubled spirit. You do uphold me by Your powerful promises revealed in Your Word and through the presence of Your Holy Spirit that dwells within. Thank You for Your great faithfulness that I witness and experience each new day! In the name of Jesus I ask and pray. Amen. Heavenly Father, with all negativeness that is happening all over this world. With all the bloodshed, all the lying and deceiving, the power struggles, we need to trust in You and You only. Lord, there are many troubling situations that can weigh our hearts down when that is our sole focus. You Lord, want us to bring these troubles to You in prayer, entrust them to Your care, and be joyful on our journey. Father God, you have brought this to my attention many times and I have shared with my congregation all the verses where we are strong in You, if we put our trust in You. Nehemiah reminds us, “The joy of the Lord is my strength.” We want to have a joyful disposition so that we can bring cheer to those around us. In the name of Jesus we pray. Amen Heavenly Father, each one of us you have given a gift to and some more than one gift. Each of us are a part that makes up the body of Christ. Lord, we who believe are grateful recipients of earnest believers who dedicate their time, energy, giftings and resources to further our growth in Christ. How grateful we are for faithful Sunday School teachers, youth workers, for those who walk alongside us upholding and emboldening us when the howling storms of uncertainty, doubt and fear assail. We thank you for the many lay people who work behind the scenes to keep the church functioning and effective such as kitchen workers, treasurers, trustees, board members, Christian education administrators and on and on the list grows. As we see the value help us to do our part as well to make a spiritual difference in the lives of our brothers and sisters in Christ and may we always put You first in everything we say and so. May the the love of Christ be strong in us, so that the whole world knows that we are Your disciples In Jesus name we pray. Amen. Heavenly Father, as we live day by day, it's easy to see that there are so many things trying to get us off the path that You have chosen for us. There are Your ways and there are man-made ways which are, popularity driven and financially motivated directing us to the broad path of destruction where the majority go. Instead we, as Your redeemed people, make the willful choice to enter the gate that is small and the way that is narrow. It is not the easy choice, but it is the right choice. The broad gate diminishes the traveler’s hope as they come to the end of their perishable walk and see nothing but a dead end. But the narrow, righteous path increases our hope as we see no end in sight but an upward path leading to eternal life where no sorrow, sin, or suffering is permitted. It is there that we will enter the gates of heaven and dwell for all eternity with our glorious Redeemer and all the saints who chose to enter the narrow gate here on earth. Keep us faithfully walking the narrow path, we pray in the name of Jesus. Amen. Heavenly Father, help me be a witness to the lost today and everyday. Lord, I want to be faithful in sowing seed so that we will reap an abundant harvest of souls snatched from the eternal fires of hell. We desire to show mercy to unbelievers, all the while, hating even the clothing stained by corrupted flesh. Help us to be salt, light, and hope in this darkened world, we pray. Father, I am reminded of what Charles Surgeon said: "If sinners will be damned, at least let them leap to Hell over our bodies. And if they will perish, let them perish with our arms about their knees, imploring them to stay. If Hell must be filled, at least let it be filled in the teeth of our exertions, and let not one go there unwarned and unprayed for." Lord, I pray that each soul that read this prayer has a desire to reach the lost. I pray this in the mighty name of Jesus. Amen. Heavenly Father, You are good and I have seen Your love and mercy and grace. Your have done a work in me that only You could have done. You rescued me from darkness and broke the chains of bondage in my life when I couldn't heal on my own. Father God, I trust in You with all my heart, You are foremost in my thoughts. My attitudes and actions will bear that out. Instead of plotting I will pray; instead of being fearful I will be courageous; instead of being weak I will be strong in You. I will not resort to my own understanding for it is faulty, frail, and full of me instead of You. More of You, less of me is my prayer that I might trust You with all of my heart and acknowledge You in all of my ways. In the name of Jesus I commit myself to You. Amen. Heavenly Father, most followers of Jesus understand that because we are saved, it doesn't mean we will never have problems in our lives. Lord, You know our heart and You are familiar with all our ways. You endure our childish expectations but desire that we grow in our trust toward You by turning all our affairs over to You. There are things we’ve been praying about, not just in 2016, but for many years. Just because we’re filling out a new calendar doesn’t assure us that everything unpleasant will go away, that all will be new and better. Trials will inevitably work themselves into our schedule, without our choosing the nature of the trial or its debut. In this new year we reaffirm our commitment to follow You wholeheartedly, trust You implicitly, and serve You zealously. In the name of Jesus we praise You and thank You for this new year that is dawning in our lives. Amen. |
