Heavenly Father, Your commands to Adam and Eve included that of being fruitful and increasing in number”. They multiplied and here we are many generations later doing the same thing. Thank you for the blessing of our sexuality which is in your design that we be fruitful. We want to honor You and our mate by remaining devout and pure in our sexuality. As we consider our Thanksgiving blessings one of the first things we give thanks for is our family. Though few of us were raised in a family that was without its weaknesses, we’re thankful that our parents cared for us, placed a roof over our heads, provided for our childhood needs and helped prepare us for our adult responsibilities. Psalm 68:6 tells us that You “set the lonely in families”; it’s part of Your plan to fulfill our lives and serves as a model of Your loving and tender role as our Heavenly Father. May we love and serve our families well, for it is the greatest and most important responsibility we’re given while dwelling here below. In the name of Jesus we pray. Amen.

Heavenly Father, Scripture indicates that You want us to serve diligently, not carelessly. When we work heartily we can be a blessing to our employer, supervisor and co-workers and as I shared with a brother just yesterday, even our customers and he was blessed. Most importantly, we bring honor to You as well. We want to be whole-hearted instead of doing just enough to get by as we go about our work. There are those duties we enjoy and those which are done of necessity. Help us to remember that we add dignity to our work when we apply ourselves fully to the task before us, no matter how menial. All work is sacred when it done not just for the boss, not just for the pay check, not just for the title but when we do it heartily for You. In Jesus name we pray. Amen Heavenly Father, it is good to be reminded of many truths that Your word has taught us through the years, including the words of the apostle John who gives us a glimpse of worship in heaven, when it was revealed to him that the Lion of the tribe of Judah, of the Root of David, was found worthy to open the scroll and its seven seals. When no one in heaven or earth could open the scroll or look into it Jesus was declared worthy to do so; He is worthy of all praise, glory, honor and thanksgiving! Not only is there worship in heaven at such glorious news, but we worship here below to know that we serve a victorious risen Savior who has conquered sin, death and the grave securing an eternal home for us in heaven. It is by His name we pray. Amen. Heavenly Father, it is impossible for me to give sincere thanks to You unless I have a grateful heart. Lord, I pray that You open my eyes to see and verbalize the little blessings that come especially when I’m walking through dark clouds of difficulty. My daily blessings, by far, outnumber my troubles. Good health, comfortable shelter, a loving wife, monies to take care of my needs, caring friendships and many other blessings seem all too common so I often take them for granted. At times I even feel entitled to these blessings. It is when I’m deprived of a particular blessing that I choose to either grumble or suddenly recognize a blessing that I’ve overlooked. Father, I thank You for Your daily provisions. Help me not to wait until trouble erupts before I look to You. Instead I want to be grateful for Your goodness toward me for past blessings and to remain confident that You will be just as faithful in providing for my future needs. And remind me to never take personal credit but realize that all good things are from You. In Your name, Jesus, I thank You today! Amen. Heavenly Father, You have placed Your children in a world where people push and shove to be first. Because of their self-importance they clamor for recognition and will stop at nothing until they get what they want in life, good or bad. But You’ve called us to view life from a perspective that considers others as important as ourselves. We are to have a humble attitude that puts You first, others second and ourselves last in everything we do. In our humanity this is impossible, but as we are being transformed into the likeness of Your Son, Jesus, we become more like Him. Our love and consideration for others grow and we apply the golden rule to our lives where we do to others as we would have them do to us. May this relationship rule guide us as we make decisions that affect others and us. Help us to have the mind of Christ in all that we do. In Jesus name. Amen. Heavenly Father, deep in my soul I have peace and reassurance as I “chew” on a particular Scripture verse throughout my day. You speak to me through Your Word and it refreshes and often challenges me as it lingers on my mind. It helps me to focus not just on the here and now, but on that which was spoken thousands of years ago or on our future dwelling in the promised land of heaven. Sometimes You use the words of a Christian song and it’s recurring tune to fill my thoughts as I go about my work. At times You bring to mind the words of a Christian friend or a written message that draws me from indifference or complacency and inspires me to meditate on the Living Word. You satisfy my hungry heart and fill my thirsty soul with Your living water. Help me to indulge regularly in life changing eternal truths from Your Holy Word. I the name of Jesus I pray. Amen. Heavenly Father, thank you for all Your promises. There are those I would like to claim, there are others I would rather not think about such as the straightforward, statement by Jesus, You will have suffering in this world. Help me to trust you when I don’t understand or may even be disappointed in an outcome that didn’t go like I had desired or I had prayed for. Help me to live with the big picture that I indeed truly know that You cause all things to work together for good to those who love You, to those who are called according to Your purpose. I praise You Lord and I pray this in the Mighty name of Jesus. Amen. Heavenly Father, help us to meditate upon Your promises so that our faith is increased and our hope is renewed. When obstacles cloud our view that discourage or sway our trust in You, knowing Your thoroughly tested promises helps us to look beyond the natural and trust You for the supernatural. We know, by experience and by looking at Scripture that You work in mysterious ways, Your wonders to perform. In Jesus name we ask and pray. Amen. Heavenly Father, during times of peace, prosperity and easy going we acknowledge the tendency to be spiritually bored. Help us to stir up the fire of Your Holy Spirit in our lives through faithful reading and application of the Scriptures. Though there are daily temptations, disappointments, and experiences that could easily extinguish the fire of Your Spirit in our lives, we thank You that Your abiding presence in our hearts is greater than the foe that seeks to deter us. May we always be attentive to Your still small voice and the convicting power of Your Holy Spirit so that we keep our spiritual fervor in serving You all the days of our lives. Through Christ we pray. Amen. Heavenly Father, we honor our military veterans who gave their all that we might enjoy our freedoms. Some died young never having the opportunity to live out their life on this side. Others bear visible reminders such as a missing limb, or a jagged scar. Others carry less visible signs such as a pin holding a bone together, shrapnel buried beneath their skin, tortuous physical and mental images that cannot be erased from their minds, causing many of them deep disturbance in their mental health. We pray that You will encourage the veterans and their families, provide physical, financial and emotional services. Place godly people in their paths who will share their faith so that these soldiers will meet Jesus as their personal Savior, the One who grants eternal life and leads us when the arm of flesh fails us. Lord we also pray for those for the Spiritual veterans. How indebted we are to those whose devotion to You has marked out a path for us to follow. From the Biblical characters like Joseph, Moses, Daniel, Ruth, Peter, Paul and Timothy to those in later generations like Spergon, D.L. Moody, George Whitfield, John and Charles Wesley, Billy Graham along with countless missionaries who gave their all to spread the Gospel whether by word of mouth or by translating Scripture so that people can learn about You in their own language. Thank You for the individual(s) who shared the gospel message with me so that I might know You personally and receive a crown of life in the hereafter where I will dwell with You, the King of glory for all eternity. In Your name we pray. Amen. |
