Heavenly Father, the Psalmist in Psalm 42 describes the rushing and heaving and restless waters as though they were the deep unending sorrows of his soul. Sometimes we describe our circumstance as floods of tears or oceans of sorrows because we feel like we’re drowning in grief much like the Psalmist. But after painting a very dismal picture, he reminds us of how we can be uplifted even while our soul is downcast and disturbed. Though circumstances may be grim we’re reminded to put our hope in You, not in the circumstance or its outcome. Your steadfast love never ceases and Your mercies never end but are renewed day by day. Great is Your faithfulness! By day You direct Your love toward us, at night Your song is with us, so we offer our prayer of thanksgiving to You, our God and faithful Father. In the name of Jesus we pray. Amen.

Heavenly Father, You are a loving Father and we ask for Your counsel to be our guide as we face the enemy’s assault on our personal holiness. As Hollywood and much of the world continues to trivialize and ridicule Biblical Christianity the horrendous consequences are evident as generations of people ignore Your principles established from the beginning of time. We desire to live holy lives which are a direct consequence of following Your statutes. We reject those personalities and influences that confuse our thinking and gradually erode our commitment to purity of mind, body, and spirit. We ask for discernment to recognize worldliness and discipline to embrace that which leads to holiness. In the name of Jesus we ask. Amen. Heavenly Father, there is nothing that brings greater satisfaction than the deep, settled peace in my soul that comes from receiving Your forgiveness. Jesus paid the debt for my sin. He paid it in full and I fully commit my life to Him. There isn’t one merit badge I can earn or apply to my standing in Christ, for it is only through His grace that I overcome the power of sin. Thank You for sending Jesus and receiving His death as an atoning sacrifice for my sins. I stand uncondemned and fully forgiven through Your grace and I am so thankful. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen. Heavenly Father, the question in the old hymn asks, “What can wash away my sins?” The correct answer is “Nothing but the blood of Jesus.” Only You can take a heart that is bent toward sin and completely turn it toward godliness. Thank You for Your redemptive love, seen in the death and resurrection of Your Son, that forgives my heart of sin. You take away the sinful way of thinking that leads to sinful living and replace it with a spiritual way of thinking that leads to life through Your Spirit. Master, the touch of Your hand empowers me to be transformed into newness of life, for which I am eternally grateful. In the name of Jesus I pray. Amen. Heavenly Father, like the Psalmist I pray that You will show me Your ways, O Lord; teach me Your paths. Lead me in Your truth and teach me, for You are the God of my salvation. I’m indebted to Your loving grace that keeps me traveling the good path. There are many other paths that vie for my attention but I know through the Spirit and also by experience, that they are treacherous leading me to danger, a dead end, and leaving me with a spirit of unrest. I want to walk on the good path and find rest for my soul even in the midst of the dark valley experiences of my travels here on earth. I’m so grateful that You walk beside me on the path that leads to righteousness and eternal life. In the name of Jesus I ask and thank. Amen. Heavenly Father, thank you for the promise of John 3:16 that states, “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life. Thank you for those who obey Your commission to go into all the world spreading Your Gospel including the most remote islands. Thank you that all around the world God’s praise is indeed being proclaimed, even on the islands. In Jesus name we pray. Amen. Heavenly Father, we thank You for the person of Jesus Who showed us how to live a life set apart for You and all the while endured loss, pain, temptation, and other emotions common to mankind. When Jesus wept upon hearing of Lazarus’ death He demonstrated to us His humanity in a way that all of us who’ve suffered loss can relate. He wept with those who wept and rejoiced with those who rejoiced. We too have opportunity to share in the grief of others as we remind them that they are not alone but have our prayerful and loving support as they endure their loss. Help us to reach out and extend ourselves to those in need. In the name of Jesus we pray. Amen. In prayer we lift up our brothers and sisters from around the globe, asking You, Father, to fill them with the knowledge of Your will through all spiritual wisdom and understanding. And we pray this in order that they may live a life worthy of the Lord and may please You in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in Your knowledge, being strengthened with all power according to Your glorious might so that they may have great endurance and patience. We joyfully give thanks to You, our Father, who has qualified them to share in the inheritance of the saints in the kingdom of light. Thank You, Father, that You have rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of Your Son whom You love, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins. In the name of Jesus we ask and thank. Amen. Heavenly Father, You have been our dwelling place throughout all generations. From everlasting to everlasting You are God. A thousand years in Your sight is like a day that has just gone by, or like a watch in the night. You sweep men away in the sleep of death; they are like the new grass of the morning though in the morning it springs up new, by evening it is dry and withered. The length of our days is seventy years– or eighty, if we have the strength; they quickly pass, and we fly away. Teach us to number our days aright, that we may gain a heart of wisdom. Satisfy us in the morning with your unfailing love, that we may sing for joy and be glad all our days. Make us glad for as many days as you have afflicted us, for as many years as we have seen trouble. May Your deeds be shown to Your servants, your splendor to their children. May Your favor rest upon us as You establish the work of our hands through Christ Jesus our Lord in whose name we pray. Amen. Heavenly Father, You didn’t command us to change the hearts of those walking in darkness, for only You can do that. But You did command that we let our light shine so that others will see Your work in our lives and glorify You, our Father in heaven. May the work of our hands and the words that flow from our lips be expressions of Your indwelling light that guides us day by day. We desire, along with multitudes of other believers, to be a sunbeam shattering the spreading darkness as we walk circumspectly in Your ways. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen. |
