Heavenly Father, You created us to be people who function and thrive by light. Your placement of the sun by day and the moon by night is the way You provide for our physical needs enabling us to see clearly as we carry out our multitude of duties. As important as light is for the eyes to see, it is even more essential that the eyes of our heart see the magnificent light of Your glory. As we walk in Your light we will be able to discern that which is evil from that which is good. We know that goodness cannot partner with wickedness for there is no harmony between You and the devil so help us to be consistent not only in what we speak but the manner in which we live so that the fruit of light is evident in all we do. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.

Heavenly Father, the families that have been in the path of Harvey weigh heavy on my heart. As I watched weather reports today, more and more rain continues to fall and I also see other parts of this country could receive devastating amounts of rainfall. Lord, like a farmer waits for the land to yield its valuable crop, patiently waiting for the autumn and spring rains we too wait for the yield of good fruit that will be produced by our labor in Christ. In this time of need for the Texans, as we extend ourselves to them and others we not only seek to be a blessing to them but we also honor Your name. Sometimes the results of our labors can be lost in the long wait. When that happens we’re brought back to the Scriptural reality that nothing we do for Christ is in vain. It all counts and is credited to our account in the economy of God’s kingdom. We look not for the applause of others, but for the affirmation of the Holy Spirit whom we seek to please in all we do. We pray in the name of Jesus. Amen. Heavenly Father, we continually remember the work of our fellow believers that is produced by their faith in Jesus, their labor that is prompted by love, and their endurance that is inspired by the hope they have in the Lord Jesus Christ. How grateful we are for the love and fellowship we enjoy with our brothers and sisters who serve You all throughout the world. We lift up those who are presently enduring matters that weigh heavy on their hearts. May the hope they have in the Lord Jesus Christ inspire confidence that You will give them victory as they stand firm in You. In the Mighty Name of Jesus. Amen. Heavenly Father. I lift up those effected by hurricane Harvey. Thousands of people are without a home today and are staying in buildings created as shelters. Lord, You see us in our hour of need. You look beyond our supposed prestige, our accumulation of wealth, or earthly accomplishments. You perceive our thoughts from afar. As You turn on the search light within our hearts You reveal anything or anyone that separates us from You. Thank You that we can be reconciled to You and experience forgiveness for our sins through Your redeeming blood. The riches of Your grace far exceeds the fleeting riches this world has to offer. You lead us in the way everlasting as we earnestly seek You, for You “came to seek and to save that which was lost.” I ask and thank You in Jesus name. Amen. Heavenly Father, we can see through scripture those who desire that Christ may be magnified in their bodies have a holy indifference whether it be by life or death and may rejoice in all their tribulations as Christ’s witnesses, knowing that the Word of God cannot be Imprisoned and that though things do not turn to their comfort in this world, by God’s grace, they will be made to turn to the salvation of others. Lord, may our heart’s cry be the same as that of the Apostle Paul who declared, “For me to live is Christ and to die is gain.'” Physical suffering and persecution for the sake of Christ will prove our faith to be genuine and will gain for us a crown of life. Suffering and persecution here on earth is temporal, but a crown of life is eternal! Help us to live not just for the here and now, but set our affections on that which is forever so that we stay the course! May our faith in You increase. And may our resolve to stand firm intensify as we see the day of Your return approaching. In Jesus name we pray. Amen. Heavenly Father, help me to look beyond the immediate to the deeper meaning of each day’s task. May the hope You place within this redeemed heart of mine stir up a joyful spirit and an overcoming attitude regarding the difficulties I encounter throughout the day. Restore to me the joy of Your salvation and renew a steadfast spirit within me as I rejoice in the unending hope I have in You. In Jesus’ Name I pray. Amen. Heavenly Father, You are the Lord of all lords, King of all kings and I put my trust in You completely. You are the Great Provider who meets all our needs. There is nothing we lack when we commit our ways to You and ask You to provide for us. You know what we have need of before we ask it, but You are pleased that we bring it to You and acknowledge You to be the One who provides for all our natural, physical, and spiritual needs. When our hearts are secure, we will have no fear, for in the end we will look in triumph on our foes. That’s because we serve You, our faithful, caring, and generous God, who faithfully watches over us providing us with Your daily mercies. We thank You as we pray in the name of Jesus. Amen. Heavenly Father, we could bemoan the fact that there are so many heartless people in the world, that evil dominates the headlines, that people in general are not trustworthy, and that terrorism is always a looming threat. But we are heartened and find deep joy in knowing that there are scores and scores of good people who seek to make this world a better place. One of the best ways we can do this is to share Your love by telling others what You have done for us, by sharing of our faith and showing others that Jesus Christ is real to us. Grant us courage to witness to others of the salvation You provide to all who surrender their hearts to You. In the name of Jesus we pray. Amen. Heavenly Father, through teachings that Jesus taught on, I find that true disciples of Christ will be men and women cautious in their judgment of others; conscious of their own faults; confident and earnest in prayer; wary of false teachers and hypocritical profession; building all eternal hopes upon the firm Rock, faith in the Word of God and Christ Jesus. Lord, as genuine Christians we have forsaken the darkness and choose to walk in the light of Christ. In doing so we must be very careful not to substitute darkness for light or light for darkness. Otherwise we are expecting You to alter Your commands to accommodate the errant principles and philosophies of every nation, culture, and generation. You are the One True Supreme God who established Your unchanging, inerrant truths and commands before the world came into being. We choose to obey You not because it’s popular, rather we choose to obey You because You created us and made it possible through Christ that we would spend eternity with You in heaven. Though shadows surround us they never conceal our Saviour and Guide; for He is the light, in Him there is no darkness at all as He is ever walking close to our side. In the name of Jesus I ask and thank. Amen. Heavenly Father, I pray that each reader of this post will understand that the relationship they have with You will be manifested in the world by his or her shining and burning as a light for Christ, by his quiet and savory influence in society, and by his conformity to the Word of God in all things. Lord, Your love comes like a light in the darkness, the bright star in the east that burst forth in the Bethlehem skies. The hosts of heaven made it a song of joy and celebration as Jesus was born into the world, the Saviour for all mankind. In the darkness of night the light of Christ appeared drawing people near and far to follow Him, then and now. And at the same time there are many who are drawn to darkness who are indifferent or intolerant of anything that pertains to Jesus and the salvation He provided. And, tragically, there are those who once walked in the light who have entered into the caverns of darkness and taken on the attitudes and actions consistent with those who walk in darkness. We don’t understand such thinking since we who once were blind can now see, but we know it to be true. Thank You for the freedom to choose, and Lord, we choose You now and for all eternity! In the precious name of Jesus I thank and pray. Amen. |
